Hsin Chong was awarded a landmark contract for the main construction work of M+ Museum, Hong Kong’s new museum for visual culture, located in the West Kowloon Cultural District (WKCD).
The upcoming M+ Museum will be situated in the centre of the WKCD, adjacent to WKCD Park. The new museum will be housed in an innovative structure designed by the award-winning Swiss architecture firm Herzog & de Meuron together with the Hong Kong firm TFP Farrells and Ove Arup & Partners Hong Kong.
M+ Museum comprising of 14-storey tower over a 3-storey podium & 2-storey basement (9.0~10.0m deep) (M+ Museum Building); 9-storey conservation and storage facility building (CSF); a 2-storey interfacing carpark and, a 16-storey retail, dining and entertainment block (RDE).
M+ Museum occupying an area of 60,000 square meters, to serve as research and curatorial centers, with a range of retail, entertainment and dining facilities, while the podium provides exhibition spaces and galleries, and the ground and basement levels as to a learning center, a moving image center, creator’s studios and further retail and dining options.
